• Feeder - medium class, length 360 cm;
• Reel – 4000, with a baitrunner (allows you to go to the toilet);
• It’s better to forget about “braid” during the competition; take a black feeder line no thicker than 0.24 mm, and a leader line 0.14-0.18 mm. I don’t use fluorocarbon, since the breaking load for these diameters is small, and if you put it thicker, you won’t catch a catch. Under high pressure, the fish is careful;
• A synthetic cage of at least three meters. The competition rules prohibit the use of a cage of shorter length; metal ones are also prohibited. Only live fish will be accepted for weighing;
• It is better to take a landing net with a long handle, at least 230 cm. Often you have to fish from bridges or high banks;
• Plastic feeders, preferably without a bottom, weighing from 14-56 grams. If the pond is up to 1 meter deep, you have to use a light weight feeder. When falling on water, it is practically inaudible;

We don’t spare money on bait, the more expensive the better. Take three packages - carp, roach, bream. Make a mixture - 15% roach, 25% bream and 60% carp. Naturally, the mixture must be filled with aromatics. You should not use one scent, a combination is better, for example: plum-corn, strawberry-vanilla, chocolate-caramel. Let’s also not forget about hemp seeds, which can be prepared directly on the pond. By autumn we add fishy smells.

What to fish with at feeder competitions?

It is better to use sandwiches: maggot corn, worm corn, blood worm. I don’t recommend fishing with boilies, they are not for competitions.

As for equipment, just DON'T COMPLETE! Whatever you feel comfortable and comfortable fishing in is what you should be wearing. At competitions they don’t evaluate what you’re wearing, and those around you honestly don’t care about you. Don't forget to take a raincoat and boots.

I happened to attend a corporate fishing competition one fall. The competition took place on the basis of a farm located near the old river bed. Each organization, in addition to exhibiting fishermen, prepared a small table. The host organization set up a table for the bosses and a welcome table for the rest. We were greeted well with a glass and fish pie.

Then a general formation, greetings, and announcement of the rules of the competition. 4 hours were allotted for fishing. It was possible to fish with all gear but no more than 3 hooks. This is correct because some people love spinning rods, others love fishing rods, and others love fishing rods. Organizers of fishing competitions set up poles with numbers of fishing spots in advance. Accordingly, a draw was held to determine fishing locations. At the same time, it was allowed to occupy unoccupied places and fish throughout the reservoir. The conditions of the fishing competition were announced incorrectly - prizes for the largest fish, the largest weight of the catch and the largest number of fish caught.

A friend took a spinning rod with him. Having gone behind the grass in the water in a suit, he managed to find the edge and in the first half hour catch four pike (1.5 - 0.7 - 0.7 - 0.5 kg.) The preliminary result was excellent. I thought that if I also try to catch a couple of pikes and then set up a small spinner and catch some bass for the sake of quantity, then I can take all three first places in these competitions, especially since I had never received a prize in a fishing competition before in my life.

But!!! Since no one else had any fish at this point, there was a bit of a stir. Everyone came up to look at the pike, took pictures, and discussed the catch. Photos with comments were presented to the bosses’ table, where the republican boss announced that the next time the competition would be organized by the organization that wins the fishing competition. Not wanting to organize the next competition, my friend’s boss simply kicked him out of the water and forbade him to fish.

My friend had to take part in a tasting at a culinary competition and drink some vodka and tell tales in good company. But there were still chances of winning and a fishing prize!

As a result of the competition, the prize for the largest number of fish was awarded to the fisherman who caught more than 30 perches on a meps spinner. The prize for the largest catch weight was dishonestly given to an organization that piled up the catches (3.5 kg!!!) of several fishermen.

In the category for the largest fish - during the competition, my friend and another fisherman caught pike weighing 1.5 kg. At first they wanted to divide the prize. But the republican boss Valentina Nikolaevna measured the length of the pikes with a ruler and gave the prize not to my friend (he had a lake pike, it was darker, thicker and shorter than the river one, while his opponent had a river one).

And my comrade, who left without prizes, said “Valya probably likes longer than thick?”

My fellow fisherman did not get the fishing prize; in general, I had good memories of participating in the competition, and I wrote a story.
