Before starting construction work, any landlord on which a residential building is supposed to be erected wants to know how much material is required. Financial costs will depend on the volume of building materials and their type, which is difficult for some owners to incur one-time, and they are forced to purchase various materials in stages. In low-rise housing construction, wood and products from it make up a considerable part. Therefore, it is advisable to know how many boards are required and how much they will cost.

Thanks to the accurate calculation of the number of boards, you can save a lot and not be deceived

Characteristics of wood materials

Currently, the building materials market offers various wood materials at a price in rubles per cubic meter. If you are keen on how many boards are required for arranging the floor, I would like to know their price. In addition, construction requires different kinds wooden products, differing in shape, size and price. Therefore, before studying the question of how many boards are in a cube, it is necessary to study the range of offered wooden products. The future homeowner, for the construction of his future home, may need:

  • profiled bar of square or rectangular cross-section, the smaller side of which exceeds 100.0 millimeters;
  • a bar the size of which are:
  • ü 16.0 ... 75.0 millimeters for products sawn from coniferous wood;
  • ü 19.0 ... 100.0 millimeters for hardwood.
  • edged, processed in three planes, board, with a thickness of more than 20.0 millimeters, the width of which varies widely;
  • unedged board having two sawn-off sides, the side edges of which are unprocessed;
  • slab, which is half sawn timber from round timber ;
  • decking board http://www.ecowood.com.ua/catalog/terrasnaya-doska for flooring.

The greatest financial costs will be required for the purchase of the first three types of sawn timber, therefore, the solution to the question of how much timber, bar or boards is in a cube is most relevant.

Accurate calculation of the amount of lumber in one cubic meter (1 m³)

The task of determining how many boards in a cube are at the level of arithmetic tasks solved in the first grade. The initial data for calculating how many beams, bars or boards in a cube are:

  • z is the number of boards (pieces);
  • h is the thickness of the board (the smaller size of the cross-section of the bar) in meters;
  • b - width of lumber (meters)
  • L is the length of a lumber unit (meters).

The volume (V) of one product (board, timber or bar) is determined by the ratio:

V = h × b × L, cubic meters,

and the number of units of lumber in a cubic meter is defined as:

Of course, this calculation is quite approximate - it does not take into account the gap between individual products, the type of board processing (grooved, planed), the length allowance and other fairly specific little things. Using the above formulas, it is impossible to calculate the amount of unedged boards or slabs. However, to determine how much to take with you to the timber yard, and whether an extra thousand rubles will interfere there, accuracy is enough. More accurate results can be obtained using the tabular calculation method.

Tabular definition of the amount of lumber

To determine how many boards are in 1 cube, the calculation table contains columns and lines. The lines indicate the cross-section of the lumber, and the columns (rows) show the calculated values of the volume of one board and the number of boards in one cubic meter. In principle, these values were obtained by calculation, but taking into account the correction factors. Consider a clipping (part) of the table, how many boards are in 1 cube. In this case, the conventions correspond to those used in the above formulas.

What is a cubic meter of edged board

How many edged boards in one cube - Photo

Edged board- lumber with clean cut edges, no bark residues. The width of the edged board is at least twice the thickness.

Since the fee is charged for the volume in cubic meters, we recall the geometric formula for its definition:

W * H * D = volume.

Everything is counted in meters

To find out how many boards are in one cube:

1 / (W * H * D) = number of boards in 1m3 (cube)

where, NS- Width, V- Height, D- Length

Translation: 1mm = 0.001m, 10mm = 0.01m, 100mm = 0.1m

When buying lumber in small quantities, you can get confused with the decimal places, namely rounding. An experienced seller will round the resulting number to 3 decimal places. Experienced shopper will round on GOST y - up to 0.000001 cubic meters and will remind the seller that up to 0.001 cubic meters. meters round only a batch of boards... The most common quantity - from a few boards to 2-4 cubic meters - does not constitute a batch. In order not to offend either one or the other, round up to 4 decimal places.

Then the resulting volume is multiplied by the cost of 1 m3 (cube). And this is where the number of decimal places can have a significant impact on costs.

1 edged board 32 mm thick, 200 mm wide and 6 m long(32Х200Х6000) has volume

  • 0.032 * 0.2 * 6 = 0.0384 cubes

30 boards will have a volume

  • 0.0384 * 30 = 1.152 cubes

If the seller rounds the volume of 1 board to 0.04 cubic meters, then he will additionally receive income:

  • 0.04 * 30 = 1.2 cubes
  • 1.2 - 1.152 = 0.048 cube

Selling these 0.048 "air" cubes makes the buyer's wallet easier

The cost may vary depending on the type of wood. The grade decreases with decreasing quality: the presence of wood defects and deviation from standard sizes... If the floorboard has a curvature, narrower or thinner than the standard by 3-5 mm, it will not go completely into the business. Visual inspection of the lumber is just as important as accurate determination of the volume.

Covered area of the edged board

To find out how much lumber you need, the calculation of the board in a cube will help you. The above formula is based on the definition of area

W * L = area.

Having calculated the covered area, it remains to multiply it by the desired thickness of the board

W * D * 0.022; 0.025; 0.032; 0.04 m and so on.

It remains to see how many boards are in one cube, and determine the required number. Just in case, print or remember the table above.

You also need to take into account the future cutting of the material.The floor and cladding board "lining" has an overlapping tongue, which is taken into account in the cubic capacity, but is not included in the covered area. A couple of boards are needed have in reserve .

Determination of the volume of unedged boards

How many unedged boards are in one cubic meter - Photo

Unedged board, that is, it does not have a rectangular cross-section along its entire length, is significantly cheaper and is widely used for the construction of various kinds of rough lathing, temporary fences.

It is important to understand that the top and bottom of such a board must be sawn through the entire length. If one face is not cut through, then this is already croaker... The definition of the cubic capacity of such lumber is distinguished precisely by the fact that it does not have the correct geometric shape.

The current standards establish several ways of accounting for unedged material, and it is practically impossible to calculate exactly how many boards are in 1 cube.

  1. Batch.
  2. Piece by piece.
  3. Sampling method.

In batch In case, the boards are tightly packed into a bag of the correct shape with further measurement. Further calculation is carried out according to the standard formula for determining the volume. Using various ratios.

Measurement by piece is made according to the average measurements of height and width. The largest and smallest dimensions in meters are folded and halved.

(Шmax + Шmin) / 2 * (Bmax + Bmin) / 2 * D = volume, m3

where, NS- Width, V- Height, D- Length

If it is visually visible that the wood is fresh and, accordingly, damp (moisture content above 20%), then the seller is obliged to reduce the total volume by multiplying the resulting cubic capacity by the coefficient:

  • 0,96 for conifers
  • 0,95 for deciduous.

Sampling method used to determine the volume of a large batch of unedged sawn timber. When loading, for example, into the back vehicle, every fifth, tenth or twentieth board is measured according to the second method.

The resulting volume is multiplied by five, ten, twenty. The download continues until the next control board. It is also practiced to select control boards in a separate stack. The calculation is made after the completion of loading.

Calculation of the volume of a bar: how many bars are in a cube?

W * T * D = timber volume, m3.

To find out how much timber is in one cube

1 / (W * T * L) = the amount of timber in 1 m3 (cube)

where, NS- Width, T- thickness, D- Length

Translation: 1mm = 0.001m, 10mm = 0.01m, 100mm = 0.1m

When buying a timber, the volume must be determined by the piece, since the timber is laid with gaskets in the stack. Measuring such a stack and calculating the cubic capacity according to the above formula invariably lead to a significant overestimation of the volume.

Length of 1 cube of timber (and any edged lumber) in meters is determined by dividing the unit by thickness and width. For example, you need to find out how many timber is in one cube - the edge is 180 mm.

1 / (0.18 * 0.18) = 30 meters 87 cm.

1 meter of such a bar will have the following volume.

0.18 * 0.18 * 1 = 0.0324 m3.

These calculations may be needed when determining the cost of funds and material.

Construction log volume: how many logs are in one cube?

How many logs are in one cube: calculation - Photo

Log structures are and will be relevant. The definition of the volume of round material depends on the method of obtaining it.

  • Hand debarking construction log.
  • Construction log, rounded on special machines.

The section of the trunk for cutting by hand has the shape of a slightly truncated cone, therefore the cylinder volume formula is applied, but with some peculiarities.

3.14 * r 2 * L = log volume, m3

Here
r is the average radius, calculated as (r 1 + r 2) / 2, r 1 is the radius from one end of the log, r 2 is the radius from the other end of the log.
L- the length of the log.
3,14 - constant "Pi".

A rounded log has, of course, a cylindrical shape and is calculated using the above formula. But here the radius is measured at any end once. Determination of the number of logs in 1 cube is determined similarly to a bar.

1 / (3.14 * r 2 * L) = Number of logs in 1m3 (cube)

Blanks for construction logs are measured in the same way.

The radius (diameter halved) is measured without taking into account the thickness of the bark. In practice, manual calculations are not performed. They use special tables, compiled into a cubature book. They are also available in electronic form.

In conclusion, it should be noted that lumber for critical work, standard in size, wood species and moisture content, should be purchased at large sites. A small manufacturer, as a rule, is not allowed there due to the lack of appropriate control over the quality of products.

The start of construction work is usually preceded by an estimate. Correct calculation of materials helps to find out the real volume of purchases, as well as avoid financial costs. For wooden buildings, it seems important to accurately determine the number of pieces of sawn timber in a cube of 100x100 mm timber. Let's try to calculate it ourselves by means of simple mathematical operations. Characteristics, a table of sizes and average prices will help you navigate the upcoming costs.

Edged lumber is widely used in residential construction. Outwardly, he is wooden plank with the specified parameters. For its production, the cleaned log is dismantled into boards, which are then cut from all sides, achieving a section size of 100x100 mm with a length of 3 to 7 meters.

A bar with such standard sizes has a variety of purposes:

  • construction of houses, baths, gazebos, utility structures;
  • production of load-bearing elements of buildings;
  • basis for arranging floors, ceilings, interfloor ceilings;
  • decoration of window and door openings;
  • construction of flights of stairs and interfloor areas.

Varieties

It is made from several types of wood:

1. Pine is the most widespread type of universal coniferous material. It is characterized by a small number of knots, ease of finishing, low price. Not subject to decay processes. The disadvantage is the rapid color change.

2. Spruce - often used for interior work. Practical, easy to handle, long time retains aesthetic appeal.

3. Larch is an ideal base for building a bath. It has a beautiful structure, withstands thermal stress and high humidity well. Is different long term exploitation.

In practice, there are also sawn timber from oak, linden, aspen.

According to the degree of processing, three types are distinguished with a section of 100x100:

1. Wooden - used as the main material for the construction of walls, roofs, decking, formwork, trench fastening; has the lowest cost. There is a beam of exact (according to GOST) and working (with a tolerance) section.

2. Profiled - used for residential buildings. In the production process, it is carefully sharpened and sanded, so the finished surfaces do not require further finishing. For a secure connection, the elements are provided with grooves. Distinguish between lumber of normal moisture and dried in the chamber.

3. Dry planed - used in construction and decorative work. The high price is due to the impeccable quality. The absence of groove joints ensures an economical consumption of raw materials.

How many beams are there in one cube?

Lumber sellers, as a rule, indicate the price for 1 cubic meter of goods. In construction work, the number of units required for the manufacture of a specific object is usually taken into account - stairs, walls, lathing. To make it easier for the developer to navigate the size of the purchase, it is better to transfer the wood from the cube to pieces.

1. For ease of operation, it is better to make all calculations in meters. First, let's find out how much one wooden beam with a section of 100x100 mm and a length of 6 meters takes. To do this, recall the mathematics course in primary classes and multiply the width, thickness and length of one product among ourselves: 0.10 × 0.10 × 6 = 0.06 m 3.

Now, to find out how many pieces of wood elements are 100 × 100 in a cube, we divide it by the volume of one timber: 1 / 0.06 = 16.67 pieces. By multiplying the result obtained by the required number of bars, it is easy to determine the total cost.

2. To consolidate the success, we will carry out one more calculation. Let's try to figure out how much lumber you have to buy to get 20 pieces. As a basis, we take boards of 7 meters, 150 mm thick and 200 mm wide.

We make the already known manipulations with numbers:

  • 0.15 x 0.20 x 7 = 0.21 m 3;
  • 1 / 0.21 = 4.76 pcs;
  • 20 pcs × 0.21 m 3 = 4.2 m 3.

Thus, when buying two dozen pieces of beams, you will have to pay for 4.2 cubic meters.

A cubic meter will help you quickly determine the exact number of pieces in 1 m 3 - a ready-made table of lumber volumes. It contains information on different types wood of the most common dimensions. Unfortunately, it may not always be at hand, and then simple calculation rules will come to the rescue.

Table of how many 6 meter boards in one cube

For boards with a standard length of 6 meters, the following table is calculated. Small section lumber available in retail sale is of course less than 6 meters. This is usually 3 m or 2.5 m. To calculate the number of any custom sizes, use the calculator at the top of the page.

Starting to design a house, a separate item will be the estimate of the project. It is not difficult to compose it, knowing how to correctly calculate how much material is required for construction and how much it will turn out in total. Today we will deal with the issue, in the solution of which there are difficulties for beginners buying lumber. The timber is in demand when building a house, bathhouse or other buildings. But not everyone knows how many timber in a cube. It's important though. Knowing the formula for calculating the amount of certain materials, you always buy as much as you need, without running around looking for missing items, or throwing away the excess.

All lumber is sold in cubes or linear meters. Any purchase requires knowledge, attention, so as not to get into a mess. There are sellers or manufacturers looking to get more value from the sale of lumber. The product is sold in cubes, and not everyone will tell you the exact amount of timber or boards. Beams and other sawn timber have a different size range. Therefore, the number of parts in one pack may be different. Using the formula, you can easily calculate the amount of any lumber in a cube. We will take as a basis an element with a section of 100 * 100 and a length of 6 meters. We need to find out how many pieces of timber will be in one cube.

First, let's calculate the cubic capacity of one piece of a given size. It is necessary to multiply all the values: 0.1 * 0.1 * 6 = 0.06 m3 in one bar. Now we find out how many such elements are in one cube: A = 1 / 0.06 A = 16.66 pieces. A is the value of the number of parts in one cube. We learned that in one cube of sawn timber with a cross section of 100 * 100, 6 m long, there are only 16 pieces with a remainder of 0.66. The general formula may look like this: A = 1 / (a * b * c) where: A - the number of parts of any lumber in a cube; a - the width of the part; в - the height or thickness of the part; c - part length. Using such a simple formula, you can find out how many boards, beams, logs, etc. should be in one cube. But sometimes the manufacturer does not produce all parts of the same length. Variations are possible +/- 100 mm.

What does it mean? For example, a board or timber instead of the declared 200 * 200 * 6000, may be 195 * 195 * 6050. This is possible due to the fact that the manufacturer does not align the ends of the blanks to the same standard. So it turns out that some boards are of the same size, and some in a pack have a difference. But the whole pack is counted as a cube. In such situations, it is better to make trial measurements of selected sawn timber in order to be sure of the quality and quantity of the goods. But do not think that all manufacturers or sellers are trying to cheat the customer. Serious companies value their reputation, strive for a single standard

Ease of use of a calculator or tables

Calculating lumber by hand is not always convenient. You can use a calculator for calculating the amount of a particular material or wood volume. On our website there is a convenient calculator that will allow you to easily set the necessary calculation parameters and get the desired result. When making a construction estimate, use the calculator on our website, so as not to look for a desktop calculator. In electronic form, it is convenient to change any parameter, leaving others unchanged. Then calculating the required cubic capacity or the amount of lumber in pieces will not seem difficult, incomprehensible. It is very convenient and fast.

Tables of exact calculations of the number of different lumber

You can use the tables, which indicate the values for boards, timber for different purposes, scope. Find the required column and row of the table, get the exact value. For example, the table shows that a bar 150 * 150 can have different lengths from 2 to 6 meters. Cubic capacity of one part of different lengths will differ, which will affect the amount of timber in one cubic meter. With a length of 2 meters, the cubic capacity of one board of a bar will be 0.045 m3, and in 1 m3 there will be 22 solid boards 2 meters long, 14 pieces 3 meters long, 7.5 pieces 6 meters long.

Everything is simple enough. Below we present the tables of lumber used in construction wooden house, roof, finishing rough and final floor, ceiling. Please note that lumber can be either standard size with a specific price or custom made to order. The cost of non-standard timber is higher than for standard material. When designing a house from a bar, it is necessary to lay in the estimate not only the bar for the box, but also all the additional elements required for lumber:

  • boards;
  • beams;
  • rafter system;
  • roof lathing.

Knowing the required number of parts for the floor, roof, ceiling, ceilings, you do not have to hire a car for each material separately. You can buy everything at once from one seller, possibly getting a discount. Select the appropriate size to find out how many boards are in one lumber cube. Thus, the tables help to correctly calculate the amount of lumber required for the construction of a wooden house. A person who owns information cannot be deceived even by a cunning seller. But knowing the formula presented at the beginning of the article, you can calculate how many timber planks in one cubic meter at the place of purchase of goods.

What else affects the amount of timber and other lumber?

Do not forget about the properties of wood when calculating necessary materials for building a house. Any tree dries out over time or gains moisture. Depends on the storage conditions of the lumber. When buying or calculating a timber of natural moisture, it is necessary to lay an additional amount of boards. The timber can dry out during preparation for construction. Then the material will not be enough for the planned frame, floor, roof. The number of elements will not change, and the size of the parts may change significantly in depth and height. The length usually does not change with wood.

In order not to be mistaken at the time of design, take a timber with a margin of 4-5 pieces, or buy dry lumber, its volume will not change much. The volume of laminated veneer lumber is practically unchanged, the production of which involves the use of only dried lamellas. But each bar must be calculated not only in piece quantities, but also in volume. When ordering a car for delivery of material to the object, you need to know the volume so that the car does not turn out to be small for delivery.

It is easy to calculate the volume of goods, knowing the mathematical formula or using the calculator on the site. V = (A * B * C) * K, where V is the total volume; A - the height of one part; B is the width of one part; C is the length of one part; K is the number of parts. For example, you need to find out how much the volume of 30 pieces of timber will be 200 * 200 * 3000 mm. We translate each parameter into a meter. V = (0.2 * 0.2 * 3) * 30 V = 3.6 m3. For delivery, you will need a car with a side length of at least 3 meters and a van volume of 3.6 m3. For the rest of the product, it is also easy to calculate the total volume, add it to the volume of the timber. If the boards are 6 meters long, it is not supposed to cut them, the length of the board must be at least the length of the product. The protrusion of long bars with an identification mark is allowed.

How much does lumber weigh in grams?

An equally important indicator is how much a bar or board weighs. This is necessary to calculate the foundation of a wooden house. Any log, board, timber put pressure on the foundation. If the weight of the future box with all load-bearing elements, furniture, people, etc. is calculated incorrectly, there will be a danger of destruction of the base of the house. This will lead to serious consequences. Many construction companies, offering ready-made house kits or lumber for construction, calculate the load themselves wooden structure on the foundation. But you can do all the calculations yourself, having at hand a piece of paper, a pen, a calculator and exact values material properties.

The weight of the wood changes. It depends on the influence of the environment, the growing area, the type of wood and processing technology. Wood of natural moisture is an order of magnitude heavier than dry timber or boards. But the tree shrinks, leading to a decrease in the load on the base of the house, to a decrease in the dimensions of the building. It is more profitable to buy dry lumber, it weighs less, but its price will be higher than the details of natural moisture. Most often, the timber is made from coniferous wood, less often from larch, cedar. Each tree has its own density, weight. Larch has the highest density - about 700 kg / m3; spruce and pine 460 and 530 kg / m3. These are average figures. It all depends on the growing conditions of the tree. Knowing the density of the timber, it is easy to calculate how much a box weighs by multiplying the density by the volume of all material for the walls, and multiplying the figure by 2. For example, a box of a house made of timber requires 20 m3 of lumber. We are building a house from pine, the density of which is 530 g / m3. (20 * 530) * 2 = 21 200 kg - the weight of the structure pressing on the foundation. If the house has four walls, one wall has a weight of 5300 kg, which is important when calculating the foundation. (coefficient = 2 - additional mass of the house, residents without load-bearing walls; the walls are calculated by the total weight of the lumber along the perimeter).

So, we figured out several important digital values for timber and other lumber used in construction. Using our recommendations, studying the tables, or using a calculator for calculating the amount of timber, you can independently calculate the required amount of material and its weight per foundation. By owning the formulas, you can save on the services of designers and not be deceived by sellers. By reviewing the price information for timber or boards at different manufacturers, you can make a financial statement of construction costs. Lumber is sold at a price of one cubic meter or running meter. You can pay only for the amount of material that was originally calculated, and not overpaying for waste. Share the information you have received with friends who are planning the start of construction, so that they know how much timber is in a cube, how much one timber or board costs. Here is a table of average prices for timber.

Be careful when choosing building material... Knowing simple things will save your budget, not make unnecessary movements.
